Becky is a beneficiary financed by friends of the foundation living in the USA. She is a 2nd year Bio-Chemistry student at Kenyatta University. She has just won the lottery; Her sponsors are financing for her a one month trip to the USA.

HELLO SIR!!
I got here nice and safe and totally enjoyed the cozy flight. It’s been so busy with the Glenn’s taking me everywhere and getting me all this things :-).I am having such a great time, I have to pinch n kick myself all the time to make sure this is real and is truly happening. God bless your heart for thinking of needy people and starting the Palmhouse Foundation because you are truly transforming and changing lives. My life has changed so much ever since i got accepted into the PF family. I promise you sir, I will make it in life and be super successful and give back to the Foundation and even start my own for Disabled children in Kenya. Thankyou so so much for making this happen for me. The Glenn’s are ridiculously kind and loving and caring. Thankyou for bringing them into my life. I will remain forever indebted to you for all that’s happening to me now. I love you so much and pray to God everyday to always leave his Floodgates open for you and Margaret and your family.

My name is Ismail, I attended Islamic Call Foundation (I.C.F) Primary School in Wajir where I scored 381 Marks in KCPE. (Kenya Certificate of Primary Education)

I am a 2nd born of 5 children and sadly my father is disabled and is a beggar in town. My mother has been bedridden for a long time now, she had a lump which was operated at a local hospital which became worse but we do not have money to take her to the National Hospital. My Father’s relatives were killed in a massacre when my father was younger so we do not have a close family nearby. Our 1st born sister is married to a pastoralist.

We live in a manyatta, we have two rooms, my mother sleeps in one and the rest of us in the other. My Father sleeps on a mat outside in the shed as my mother is not able to build a manyatta for him as is our custom.

To attend the Palmhouse Foundation Interview, a neighbor provided transport to interview centre in Garissa. I was glad to see a tarmac road on the way to the interview.

I hope to become a surgeon and provide for my family and community.

My name is Karen, am in Form 4 at Loreto High School, Limuru.

Actually my term was so short that I did not notice it was coming to an end. I got to do a number of examinations including the ‘famous’ mocks. They were really challenging and I believe that the examinations have me motivated to work harder and smarter and owing to the fact that am sitting for my final exams KCSE at the end of this year, I really need to know my strengths and weaknesses.

I also got a chance to apply to the University of Abu Dhabi in New York and am currently working on my recommendation after thorough research required by the institution.

My name is Phelicia, I attended Loreto High School, Limuru and completed in 2010.

I have been alright and blessed to attend another mentoring session. I scored an A in final exam and await admission to the University.

In the meantime, I am a teacher at a local secondary school in Kisumu. It is a small school with Form 2 as the highest level. I teach Mathematics and Physics and I find it interesting and humbling. Coming from a National school where everything was availed to the comfort of the students and teaching in a school where resources are limited has really exposed and challenged me.

I feel satisfied teaching students who are eager to learn and thirsting for knowledge. In addition, I act as role model to them and mentor them.

I am and will always be grateful to KCB Foundation for the scholarship they offered me and others through the Palmhouse Foundation.

My name is Victor, I am in Form 1 at Alliance Boys High School.

During April holidays, I had a chance to teach in my former primary school my favorite subject- Social Studies. It is through this that I got money to purchase my school books. I was left with Ksh.500 which was not enough to get me back to school and my church priest added Ksh. 700 in which I used Ksh. 1,000 to travel back to school and was left with Ksh.200. In second term, I did not misuse the money as I paid Ksh.100 for the school house fund, ksh.50 to travel to mentoring venue and I have Ksh. 50 with me.
